The Definition of Failure…Can Failure Bring Success
Failure is the inability to meet ones obligations and when it occurs, it can leave both positive and destructive effects on a person. Brains do not always work in best interests of a person and therefore are default to irrational decisions especially if people fail to instruct them. Eliminating failure could also mean getting rid of a person's creative ability. The definition of failure assumes a double-edged-sword approach where it can imply both negatives and positives of failing to achieve an obligation.
If you are perfectionist or have a be-good mindset, you are likely to experience failure in your life and in this case, the detrimental side of failure. If you have a be-good mindset, it tends to cause problems when you are faced with something difficult or unfamiliar. The most probable thing that you will do when confronted with challenges or difficult situations is that you start worrying about making mistakes.
Since mistakes mean that a person lacks ability, you end up creating fear, anxiety and frustrations in yourself. These emotional indispositions in turn undermine your performance by impairing your working memory and disrupting the cognitive processes, which people depend on for creative and analytical thinking. When you focus on doing things too perfect, you are also in problems.
A perfectionist fails in engaging in exploratory thinking and behaviors, which are avenues for new innovations and knowledge. In workplace, sports, and relations or schools, if you fail, relatives and colleagues think that there is something wrong. This perception and feeling of contempt may induce agony. Moreover, failure is associated with negative connotations while success has optimistic feelings. When a person fails, he or she receives ridicule, condemnation, scorn or disapproval and on contrary, when a person succeeds, it is praise, joy and adulation. It is certain that at some point in life, you will face setbacks and if you have no strong will of acceptance of failure, you may end up in bitter emotions that you may not be able to cope with. When you fail, you should appreciate that you achieved that undesirable result and then analyze the situation to find out what went wrong and how you could have prevented it. In fact, there is no problem without a solution, provided you make up your mind to find the solution that fits and overcome the problem. Therefore, whether you have financial, relationship or even health problems in life, you can work your way round them and correct them.
When you take steps towards solving problems, you are building on hope and confidence.
A proactive stance gives the reins of life in your hands and the fact that you are working towards finding solutions is in itself empowering because instead of wafting for things to happen to you and being passive, you are actually doing something about it. Once you have solved your problem, you can move forward and go one-step ahead.
While you may think that failure is not an option, you have to admit to the possibility of failure. Sometimes, fear of failure is an important driving factor on the road to success.
In fact if you take the analogy of a car, when driving you can suffer from a flat tire, loss of fuel, mechanical failure or any other problem that can stop you from continuing your journey. However, all these are not insurmountable problems and can be fixed – they are only temporary roadblocks.
